Wild American Shrimp Are the Perfect Post-Workout Meal!
September 28, 2022
It’s great to try and get in shape! Whether you’re trying to shed a few pounds from quarantine or just want to feel healthier, working out is a great way to spend your free time.
If you work out more intensively, then you know that exercise isn’t the only factor to losing weight or gaining muscle: it also depends on what you eat.
This is because, when we conduct a hearty exercise, our muscles become more receptive to the effects of amino acids, the building blocks of protein that help the body build and grow new muscle. That means that when you are in the cool-down phase of heavy exercising, consuming high-quality sources of protein is key to building, maintaining and growing muscle mass.
Luckily, wild-caught U.S. shrimp are composed almost entirely of protein and water!
As we’ve discussed in the past, shrimp are packed full of plenty of protein: perfect for building muscle mass. Not only that, but they’re also low in calories, carbs and fat! They make for an excellent post-workout meal, with three ounces of shrimp containing 12 grams of protein and only 60 calories.
That’s not all! Shrimp also contain omega-3 fatty acids, which can help build lean muscle and decrease muscle soreness, not to mention reduce the risk for heart disease! Couple that with the variety of healthy vitamins that wild-caught shrimp contain, and you’re looking at the prime post-workout meal! Plus, you don’t have to worry about wild American shrimp containing the veterinary drugs and chemicals that many farm-raised and imported shrimp contain.
