When two well-established seafood families join forces, great things are bound to happen. Biloxi Shrimp Co. (formerly Biloxi Freezing & Processing, Inc. / M&M Processing, LLC) is a powerhouse of the shrimping industry that brings a combined 175+ years of experience to the table through the seafood legacies of the Suarez / McLendon and Mavar families.

Initially, the two companies were separate, with the M&M Shrimp Company operating as one of Biloxi Freezing & Processing’s largest customers. As an outstanding business relationship grew into one of mutual friendship and respect, the two shrimping entities decided to merge into one cohesive company in 2006, with more capabilities and a stronger competitive advantage in the market.

Together, they’re referred to as “The Coolest Guys in Town,” and it’s not for no reason. Third-generation President Mark Mavar and Vice President Jonathan McLendon embody a new generation of cutting-edge shrimp processors. They are incredibly intelligent, innovative, and constantly growing at a rapid pace. In their 20,000 square foot processing facility, they pioneered the use of revolutionary optical laser sorting technology in the United States shrimp industry. They are constantly working with their suppliers to make all processes faster and more efficient. And over the past 10 years, the company has tripled its production of shrimp, and they seek to increase said production by another 25% over the next five years.

Beyond the state-of-the-art technology and ever-improving processes, quality is the number one word at Biloxi Shrimp Co. A banner inside the processing facility always hangs where everyone can see it with these words boldly spread across it: “A Quality Product is Our Goal Every Day.” This can be seen on each of their shrimp products, with the wild-caught Gulf shrimp processed at the facility being packed to give customers true net weights, counts, uniformity, and color consistency.
