The American Shrimp Processors Association has filed antidumping and countervailing duty petitions on imports of frozen warmwater shrimp from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The goal of the petitions is to have the U.S. government impose additional tariffs on imports from these countries to counteract their dumped prices and to offset the unfair subsidies that foreign shrimp producers receive. If the effort is successful, additional tariffs should help raise the prices of imports from the four countries, which together account for over 90 percent of total imports.
