A Texas Taco Chain Restaurant Adds Wild American Shrimp Ceviche Chef’s Special
May 2, 2019

Texas gourmet taco restaurant chain Tacodeli is now offering Wild American Shrimp tacos with a special kick.
The new Aguachile taco pairs thinly sliced Texas Gulf shrimp with a 3-hour marinade of fresh lime juice. The shrimp are then strained and seasoned with serrano tomatillo salsa, with cubed avocado and sliced radish and a little purple onion added. It’s the new chef’s special at this restaurant where handcrafted tacos meet with local and organic ingredients and award-winning salsas.
The menu’s tasting notes are as follows: “This is essentially a shrimp ceviche with a salsa Verde. Like the mahi, the gulf coast shrimp is cured in lime juice. The flavor is very bright, acidic, and with a buttery texture finish. The shrimp have a very sweet flavor and tender texture when cured in the lime. The avocados offer a buttery flavor that softens the acidity of the dish. This is a beautiful dish with the whiteness of the gulf shrimp contrasting with the bright green of the peppers, cilantro and avocado. It does have a kick from both the spiciness of the serranos in the salsa verde and the tang from the lime juice.”
Roberto Espinosa, Tacodeli’s founder and co-owner, has said the restaurant chain tries to source as much locally as possible. Along with the Aguachile taco, there are two additional Wild American Shrimp offerings. Tacodeli offers the Shrimposito (grilled Texas Gulf shrimp, chipotle-sesame adobo, queso fresco and avocado) and Shrimp Taco (grilled Texas Gulf shrimp, jack cheese glaze and sauteed poblano-onion rajas).
Tacodeli is known for its service and welcoming atmosphere and has locations in Austin, Dallas, Plano and Houston, Texas.
